Default My OT post in the A4 Forum is (Deleted), but I did not delete it. Can you help me figure out why?

Default Because it was off topic and a moderator deleted it

Default Why, then, was it not (Moderated)?

I saw plenty of other Off-Topic posts in the A4 Forum. There were more than a dozen regarding another sporting event.

Not only were they not deleted, they weren't even moderated. I have seen all sorts of truly, brutally, offensive material on many of the forums that, at worst, is moderated.

I was not aware of any stated (or otherwise) policy that OT posts would be deleted rather than moderated. Especially when this ultimate censoring singles-out a harmless post.

In my case, someone I just met yesterday (and who's email address I did not have) at the Colorado Audi Club November Drive responded to my message, meaning that the post was of interest to other Forum members.

Default I think your screen name sums it up

You've got too much time on your hands. We don't single people out -- we just do our best. OT posts should by all rights be deleted.

Default (Updated) Jason, I don't want to make a big deal about this, but

there is no allusion to a policy of widespread deletion vs. moderation in this post by you.

Indeed, that thread discusses what has happened or might happen to forums where strict adherence to the topic leads to an atrophy of the community.

Your quote: "I think your screen name sums it up. You've got too much time on your hands. We don't single people out -- we just do our best. OT posts should by all rights be deleted." is contradictory. While you may feel that all OT posts should be deleted. The fact is, they aren't. Lots of OT posts around mine weren't. Mine was. By definition, it was singled-out.

Further, I was not aware that employment was a prerequisite for posting on the forums.

I'll drop this now, but with all due respect and appreciation for the work you and Johannes have done on the forums, I disagree with your reply and take issue with your comments on my employment status. I did not ask to be laid-off.

Default I think I'll try to get the last word here

I wasn't commenting on your employment status. I'm sorry you were laid off. I was aluding to the rest of your former signature... the part about being bored.

And I'll stick to that comment. As far as I'm concerned you would have to have too much time on your hands to be drilling down on this so much.

Ever heard the expression "two wrongs don't make a right". Are you contending that there's some de facto standard that I've set through my vague response to a previous question on this matter? Is your argument really that since I did not tell the other reader that all OT posts should be deleted then from that moment on there's been a new AudiWorld policy (even though that would contradict our own Terms of Service).

Please -- give me a break.

I think we're all reasonable here. I think that you are making your points in good faith. But I also think that you've missed the point. I explained to you that we did not go searching your post out. We deal with the posts we see as appropriate and acknowledge that we miss a few. That's it.

Let's get on with enjoying the site.

Default I concur with JET, our Highly Exalted & Fearless Leader...

...give'em a break. =)

I'll be the first to admit, I bust JET, JE, DonP and especially SteveS's chops as much as anyone else.

But, I am realistic and usually kidding. I say give them a break, they do an incredible job.

OK, enough of the mushy stuff. JET, why was my post number 2,881.878511 modera... ;-P
