Default 1.8T Turbo Boost Control

I'm looking at this mod from electrodyne. I was wondering if anyone has used it and can say whether or not it is a good purchase. Would it be better than chipping the car? And could I chip with the boost control installed also?

Default Just save your money and put it towards a chip. More to the 1.8T A4 engine management...

...than just turning up the boost.

It's been done and the AW'er who did it sold it in favor of a chip. For more, run a search for "rbarna BCS."

Default Boost controllers can not reduce boost if...

...a severe knock condition occurs. If you use a boost controller, the ECU only has one "knock defense" to protect your connecting rods (reducing timing advance).

Any 1bar chip will retain the ECUs ability to reduce both boost and timing advance if severe knock is experienced.

Peace of Mind is worth an extra ~$200, don't you think?
