Default Why is the spring rate on the H&R C/O sooo high f/ avants

My friend just got his c/o installed today and the mechanic noticed the numbering on the spring itself (2000). He commented that this spring rate is higher than that of the S4. Mind you he has a 1.8t avant...is that correct the numbering signifies the spring rate? And why is it so dam high? I would think that it would drive like a skateboard...because on my old 1.8t golf race springs the spring rate was 450 and it was a pretty stiff ride. Please shed some light...tia

Default What is the spring rate?

I hope he wasn't pointing to some stamp that said "2000".

Default Yes he was...apparently on the S4 c/o there was a "1700" stamp on those springs

Default Sorry, those are not the spring rates

They may be some model or tracking number, but, trust me, H&R coilovers are not using 1700# and 2000# springs. H&R coilovers are in the 400-500# range, a little more for the "Ultra" version, I believe.
