#1 Dealership/Importer (for those with KKK Turbos)

Down here in the Dominican Republic we have one Volkswagen AG Importer which is the dealer as well. Not only is this dealer "tuner friendly" with the exception of opening up the engine and anything that they don't consider direct Bolt-on is out of the question, in fact they'll get you parts such as H&R springs, and oettinger.

Nonetheless I was asking them about a downpipe, you know, it's affect and the warranty, they said no problem, they'll be happy to install it. It wasn't to this that the Service Manager started telling me that the downpipe is actually good in this hot country with the turbo. Then he came over some guideline in what THIS PARTICULAR IMPORTER/DEALER does to insure that the KKKs don't fail, I thought if we spread these guidelines, everyone will never get to have a failure.

1- It is highly reccommeded (and even installed by the dealer) to use a turbo timer.
2- Get the oil service done on time never late.
3- Utilize 20W50 Synthetic Motor Oil (Rec. Motul)
4- Use only New OE VW/AUDI/SKODA oil filters.
5- The dealership during each oil change, remove the turbo's oil lines and inspects it thoroughly to insure that there is no residue or damage, if there is, it is replaced. (at no extra service charge)

Some of you may alreadt do this, but in some dealerships, many just get the oil filter and oil changed, I think that the oil line inspeccion at no cost during the oil change can be essential.

I think someone recently posted that for 2001 and later 0W 30 oil was recommended? Obviously this would contradict the 20W 50 advice from your dealer.

The heavier oil may provide more hot protection, esp in a hot climate, but isn't the lighter oil going to be beneficial for cold weather and at startup?

I live in New England and switched to Mobil 1 5W 30 since ~5K miles. I was going to switch to 0W 30, but now I'm not sure.

Thoughts?
