Ok, I essentially spent all Saturday on this, but the results are good!!
I bought the G2 caliper paint which is applied by brush (not spray), and did all four calipers in the same sitting. HOWEVER I'll warn you right now that you'll need to get the car on a lift to remove all 4 wheels at once, OR do it 2 wheels at a time in 2 different sessions, i.e. buy 2 sets of paint. Why? because the paint started to harden by the time I put the rear wheels back on, lifted the front, removed the front wheels, masked the areas that I didn't want painted, cleaned the calipers and started painting again. It was a near-disaster but I was lucky the paint didn't completely dry up, although the fronts don't look nearly as good as the rear.. Anyway here's how I did it: 1. Remove the wheels: ![]() 2. Remove as much brake dust as possible from the caliper: ![]() 3. Mask all areas that you don't want painted (this can take some time if you want to be meticulous): ![]() 4. Clean the caliper using the provided cleaner can: ![]() 5. This is what comes with the rest of the kit, I also bought a finer brush for small areas (the green one on the right): ![]() 6. Pour the small jar into the large can of paint: ![]() 7. Mix thouroughly for a few seconds, let it rest for 5 min. then stir again: ![]() 8. Apply the paint in relatively small amounts, you don't want to put too much otherwise it creates uneven surfaces: ![]() ![]() 9. Here's where the small brush comes in handy, amongst other places: ![]() 10. Here's the caliper after one layer of paint: ![]() ![]() 11. After two layers of paint (applied 15 min. later): ![]() 12. With the Audi rings applied (next day) which I got from here: ![]() ![]() 13. Here are the fronts finished, you can tell the finish is not as even (plus I didn't have time to paint 2 layers, the paint was really elastic at that point): ![]() 14. With the "clip" back in its place, which I amazingly found easier to put back on than to remove: ![]() 15. Rears with the wheel on: ![]() ![]() 16. Fronts with the wheel on: ![]() ![]() ![]() And a new sig!! Enjoy :-) -Marc
