Default I guess the diff is for the service guy to drink his beer, smoke that cigarette, etc.

However, if I'm not mistaken, there is a fair amount of resets that need to be done after the battery replacement, so I'm sensning that I would prefer having the dealer work on this, right?

Default If you consider putting the windows up and down once a fair amount of work

You can either get a 9 volt battery and hook it across the terminals when the battery is removed, or reset the clock, windows, HVAC and possibly the radio when done. If you have the radio code, all of that should take about 4 minutes.

If you want to pay the dealer $60 to do that (unless they charge more), then go ahead.

Sometimes we have more money than time, other times we have more time than money.

Default I had to replace the energizer battery on both of my cars.

They failed after 2-3 months. The replacement they gave me, driving force made by energizer ( they don't want to put their name on it) failed also. I would buy it from the dealer. $200 but 7 years real life.

Default I'm the same way; $245 installed at the dealer, and it would last 6yrs easily.

In fact, the reason that it's now dying is that 3mos back I sat in the car with the electricals on (but not the engine on) for some 35-40' or so working on the Parrot 3100. I charged it then, it was fine for a long time, but after parking the car for 7-8 days last week, last night it was dead again. Charged it up, and this morning when I drove to the dealer caught up with no problem. This is the original battery and it could easily last another 1-2 yrs.. Considering that the proper charge level of the battery controls several important car components for smooth performance, I don't want to have to experiment with an energizer, or worse go to AutoZone to buy a new one. Couple of years back that I happened to be in one of their stores for spark plugs, the kid behind the desk was trying to figure out what an 'Audi' is..."is it GM?"
