Default I don't freaking believe this

Getting the new t-stat and timing belt two weeks after buying this damn car, and the shop calls and says that the rad has a small leak too. Another $900 if I want that done.

Is this what it is going to be like owning one of these?

Default More than likely your state has a Lemon Law. Most Do. Check it out and see if you are covered.

Many States have laws for USED vehicles, as well as new ones.

Default private sale ? If not, you should have some recourse. It's automatic 30 days in CT from ANY dealer.

Default Re: I don't freaking believe this

well, the Tbelt and T-Stat arent required to be changed by AUDI until 90K or something...this is a KNOWN thing on these cars. on ANY Audi/VW actually. did you ask the seller if this had been done before you bought the car? these are known higher mileage repairs that must be done. I just sold my 01 S4 with 59K on it to a guy and i told him that he WILL need to do the Tbelt and Tstat but not for a few thousand miles at least. I dont think you can get any compensation for those....now the hole in the Rad...yeah, that is possible to get recomped for but unless you purchased an aftermarket warranty, i dont know what recourse you may have. I just bought a 98 A8 and had the tranny flushed/filled/new filter and new Rear Diff. seals replaced (73K). I wish you luck on getting this sorted out but honestly, i bet you wont get little if anything out of it.

Default Need to try multiple repairs first

In Nevada it says it's after multiple attempts to correct a problem.

I didn't buy the Audi warranty... they wanted $3-4k for it, which was silly. I was looking for an aftermarket one through a dealer friend. Another friend got his bumper-to-bumper one on an AMG Mercedes for $1500.

Default The "Multiple Repairs" thing is for **lemon buyback** not for broken items ..

.. In Connecticut, it's the same ... after 4 repair attmepts, if it's still not working, they have to buy back the car.

That has nothing to do with your problem. In CT, for used cars, if ANYTHING goes wrong in 30 days, the seller (not private seller) MUST pay for all repairs.

Check into this for your home state.
