Default Transmission exploded view ZF 5HP19

Does anyone have a self study, exploded manual for this tranny? My T bar will not let me go from 3 to 2 gear, Tiptronic works fine and I suspect the multifuntion switch. It looks almost impossible to access without taking the LHS mount off and exhaust and etc etc. Any procedural help to get at this switch woulod be appreciated as my tranny spends so much time in 3rd gear and despite a number of postings on this forum haven't been able to solve problem especially with Audi dealers saying just rebuild the tranny and you'll solve all.

Default You do have to remove the RH transmission mount to get to it

You could have a rodent stuck in there or nuts.....what exactly do you need?

Right click and save target as....12 mb info on tranny

Default The multifuntion switch is only an electrical switch.

So your tranny shifts from 1st to 5th, but you are not able to manually shift to 2nd, right? I would open the shifter housing in the cabin first. You might have dropped something in there and that is holding you to go all the way down

Thanks Paul. It appears that to remove the transmission mount, the exhaust needs to come off and actually quite a lot just to get at this switch. I also suspect that when the dealer did the tanny filter change he has snagged some of the internal wires and hence this is why the T bar doesn't move into 2nd, as when I freed the cable at the switch, the T bar moved freely into the second grear slot. Any info on the removal of the tranny mount would be helpful. Thanks.Max

I am just curious. Why do you want to select second gear?

Default The shifter cable and the multifunction switch are on the left ( driver's ) side.

If you have skinny fingers you can get to it.

Here is the shaft without the switch.

Default I just realized that you have a 3.7 not the 4.2.

It also has the switch on the left side. Number 18.

You're right I don't but it just happened that in checking to see if there any selection problem with the tranny, the T bar didn't go all the way down into 2nd as it used to. Tomorrow I am taking the pan off and seeeing if the wires to the multifunction switch have been pinched inside the tranny , possibly during a filter change, and that is the cause. Else, I think I have a problem inside the valve body/solenoid and this could be why my tranny seems "lost"

Thanks. The pan comes off tomorrow and I will be in a better position to see what's going on.
