Default greetings from japan

I`ve been in this godforsaken audiless country for about a week (two weeks to go). I`ve seen roughly 10,000 cars and have been keeping track. Tons of mercedes and beamers over here, a few jags, lots of neat toyotas and nissans you don`t see in the states. However, literally only saw a total of 5 audis so far... 2 A4s, A4 wagon, a 100, and an 80. Not a single A6 let alone an A8. These folks don`t even know what they`re missing over here. I`ll keep my eyes open and try to take pics of any trully extraordinary cars.

Default Have a good time

When I reported from Barcelona, I said there were not that many Audi's....but in hindsite...there were more Audi's than BMW's or Mercedes.....they seemed to be all over the place.

Always wondered what Japan would be like, really don't want to visit anytime soon though.....

Default Are the Germans right-hand drives or LH's? Interesting that AUDI is absent....

Default Kobe

Not sure where in Japan you are, which city that is, yet when I was in Kobe about 5 years ago, I did spot an Audi A8 in Tokyo and two A4's in Kobe. Not a mangnificent presence yet a presence nonetheless. Perhaps you should try DT Tokyo, you will find a great many exectuive class vehicles there.

Cheers!

Default Germany, and most of Europe proper is LHD/Right-side-of-road...

But Audi does make RHD cars for the UK market.

Importing cars into Japan is not easy to do. US car makers couldn't easily do so for quite some time, mostly due to anti-competitive tarriffs and inspection practices.

Default Enjoy your time! You're lucky, that is a beautiful culture, with awesome landscapes. I'm jealous!

Default finally spotted an A8 last night

Metallic silver... looked brand new. Wasn`t fast enough to snap a photo. So now over a week and 6 audis... and finally an A8. All the german cars I`ve seen (and there are tons of them both here in Tokyo and in Kyoto) are RHD. There are some american cars... even a few cadillacs (LHD). I`ve seen more S500s than you can imagine.

I spent last week touring around Kyoto.. now that is a beautiful place with fantastic gardens and temples. Can`t say I`ve been as impressed with Tokyo... must be because these folks work insane hours and I`ve only been able to see the town at night. Last week was fun... the next two weeks are unfortunately work. Hopefully, I`ll get a chance to explore on sunday (but more likely I`ll find an irish pub and lay out my 1,000 yen - 10 bucks - for as many guiness pints as I can to kill the time). I`m having deja vu.. think I`m actually living the part from Lost in Translation. Sayonarra
