Default Just recoded my 01 S8's TCM from 00102 to 00032 to see the difference. Anyone else try this yet?

The car came with the TCM coded as 00102 but it does not have the S mode on the shifter like the 2002 and later Tiptronic transmissions. I did this on my A6 4.2 and loved the difference (Holding all Gears).

I also recoded the Central Locking Module to One Touch Unlock & Window/Sun Roof closing and opening from the remote.

Default Do you have steering wheel tip shifting?

If so, and you recoded to 00032, try driving along and then downshift using the steering wheel buttons while in drive and see if it shifts into tip mode. If it does, it should go back to drive after not using it for 15 seconds or so?

I would love to know if this works.

Paul

Default Yes, I do have steering wheel tip shifting. ....

I just checked and the car does hold all gears in Tip Mode but the steering wheel and Tip shifting still does not respond when in "D".

Default Didn't the original coding hold all gears?

It does on my '01 S8 with two exceptions. It'll upshift at redline and downshift one gear if revs drop below ~800 rpm.

I think it did but I wanted to see the difference between the two settings.

Default Re: my s8 is 00101

it will not take 00032.

but 00101 will hold to red-line in 1st.

01101 will also work but this doesn't cause the steering wheel tip controls to work as has been postulated on this forum.

I will double check but I think my 01 S8 took the 00032 recode.

Also can you elaborate on "steering wheel tip controls to work as has been postulated on this forum".
