Default Would a used, post-warranty A8 be a good buy a few years down the road?

This is an exclusive car that will still look gorgeous for a number of years to come.
It will be hit by depreciation pretty badly, so I suppose a 4-5 year old example could go for around 35-40% of its initial value, if not less.. I know that Audi V8's are not good bets on the used market due to their reliability issues and the scarce nature and prohibitive prices of parts.
Any thoughts?

Default Check Edmunds.Com

These new Audi's seem to be holding their values rather well. In fact, if you check www.edmunds.com and compare used car prices on the 97 A8 as compared to comparable Mercedes S420 (assume same year and mileage), the Audi is keeping its value right in line with that vehicle. Mercedes Benz' are consider to hold their value better than most cars. The old perception about depreciation was related to the "sudden acceleration" nonsense on the 5000. Those cars didn't hold their value because people believed the garbage reporting on 60 minutes. My trade on the 97 A4Q 2.8 towards my 99 A8 proved that these new Audi's are keeping their value.

As for the parts prices, I think the insurance premiums reveal that they are no worse than any other car. Any luxuary car carries high prices on parts (including Cadillac & Lincoln). If you are buying a $70K car, don't expect to pay CIVIC prices for parts.

If you want to see a car depreciate, look at Jaguar, you'll lose $21000 during the first year.
