Anyone with experience of tranny/TC code 17125?
Got a 'sporadic DTC' of 17125 from the TCM during investigation of a 18032 (transmission turns on the MIL/CEL). My indy tech tells me not to worry, he reset it and wants to wait and see if it recurs. But.. STFA yields two contrasting prognoses:
1. Allroad forum: frightening stories of torque converter replacement and transmission failure following shortly after this code first appears. Grim, $$$, urgent investigation needed.
2. An Audi TSB quoted in the A6 forum:
--------------------------------------
TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN: MFG Bulletin Number: 320501 Date: 20051025
Component: POWER TRAIN
Details: MIL ILLUMINATED, DTC 17125 STORED IN TRANSMISSION FAULT MEMORY-NO DRIVEABILITY CONCERN. TORQUE CONVERTER CLUTCH CIRCUIT PERFORMANCE OR STUCK OFF STORED IN TRANSMISSION FAULT MEMORY. *SC
Internal use: 20051114
--------------------------------------
So I have no idea whether to freak or not. My friendly tech consulted his VAG OBD stuff and found a possible culprit, pressure control valve 4 -N218- (also known as solenoid valve 7 -N94-), but serious investigation of this issue will cost downtime, car rental, and moola.
Anyone with thoughts on the relevance of this TSB, which basically seems to tell us 2001 A6ers to ignore this code?
Helps!

Ordered the relevant TSBs
A320501 TB AUDI MIL ILLUMINATED,DTC 17125 STORED 1 $4.00 $4.00
A320502 TB AUDI MIL ILLUMINATED,DTC 17125 STORED 1 $2.00 $2.00
Tax $.44 Total $6.44
Available at the Audi literature ordering site <a href="http://www.audi.ddsltd.com/cgi-bin/default?ACTION=START&USERTYPE=C&COMPANY=AUDI"> here. </a>
They also have 'Audi-official' CD-based repair manuals for $100. Not sure how these compare to the Bentleys but I ordered the C5 A6 item for the hell of it.
Will report on what the TSB sez, but it's sent hardcopy, unfortunately not PDF.
