Side sunshade hooks FINALLY installed today!
After a funeral this AM, my son's preschool called to have me pick him up since he had a fever. While he was resting, I took the opportunity to install the sunshade hooks. Sorry, I do not have pictures of the rear door panel swap, which was done a while back.
Anyway, for anyone lucky enough to source OEM rear door panels with the integrated sunshades, here is how to align the hooks properly. I think someone else here will be doing this soon, so I figured I would post the process here ))
Oddly enough the hooks that I had I pirated out of my 2001 2.7T before I listed it for sale. The ETKA lists the following part numbers for the sunshade hooks and assorted hardware:
4B0 861 337 B 01C [hook x 4]
4B0 861 359 A 01C [base x 4]
N 013 966 26 [screws x 8]
However, my OEM hooks from the 2001 2.7T were not the same. It was one part, molded plastic, no "base" to speak of, with a different part number: 4B0 861 B RBU. However, none of my on-line parts sources found that any such part number exists...odd...
Here is a closeup of the hook...

...and the back (note the part number)...

Here is the sunshade pulled up into position, and some blue painters tape to mark the outer edges of where the hook fastens:

Now I lower the shade, align the hook, and using an awl, mark where I need to drill for the two screws:

Using a tungsten coated drill bit, I made the two holes:

...and installed the hook:

<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/sunshade/sunshade5.jpg">
I repeated this step until all 4 hooks were in place (two per side).
Here is the shade up (window down for better view):

Here is a pic of the rear window without the shade up...

and now one with the shade up to protect my son's tender eyes from the sun...
<img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v739/hliu55/sunshade/sunshade8.jpg">
If I have a chance, I'll pull out the other door panels I have in the basement so I can do a supplement to this writeup for the rear door panel removal and install.

P-chop dork ;-)
I used to have some skills, then I sat down at a buddies computer with the latest version, and realized that I have NO CLUE what I'm doing in the new versions... Ohh well, suppose I'll pick it up again one of these days.
Your new cigs pretty awesome. I think it's the most creative I've seen so far...
