Default RS6 Intercooler Install Pics ( FYI)

Thought I'd post pics of my RS6 intercooler install for the few A6 mod guys that are out there. For the record the cooling area measures 8.5"x10.5" which puts the surface area significantly greater than the RS4 intercoolers. I did have to go buy the factory brackets from the dealer for an RS6 which made them then fit like a glove. The only other issue was tweaking the receiver dryer just a hair to get it out of the way for the pass side inter cooler.

The only other thing I'm toying with is using the factory ducting out of the back of the intercooler that the Rs6 has. This will most likely lead to more Reciever/dryer tweaking but it would be a nice touch.

Default Curious - why did you choose RS6 ICs rather than AWE?

Not being critical - just trying to understand. I understand why you chose RS6s rather than RS4s. However, the AWEs are supposed to have greater surface area than RS4s and, I'm guessing, are cheaper than OEM RS6 parts.

Very cool mod BTW. Are you doing K04s also?

Thanks

Mike

Default RS6 coolers have more surface area than awe as well...

AWE intercooler (from Archives) have 68 sq in.
RS6 intercoolers have 89 sq in.
Thickness =2-3/4"

I like the idea of more surface area.

Default Stage 50000+ on the motor...

Actually I meant to do a stage III AWE kit but then said "I may as well pull the heads....and then I said...."A little port, polish, c.c.'d chambers, radial valve cut, thermal coatings...and so on" would be nice too. Now as of this morning I'm getting the AWE fueling kit. Lowering the compression, doing all the work above, and getting GIAC to do some tuning so I can crank up the boost. Who know's what the hell else the day will bring but I can wait until it's done.

Default Beautifull

I'm really impressed that you manage to do all this by yourself.

I have 3 questions
- Will you have to sacrify something like your fog lights to get them to work?
- How many HPs do you expect from it?
- How much of a budget do you need for all that?
