Default how do you reset ecu using VAG?

Rather than do battery disconnect, how do you reset ECU with a VAG tool (prodiag, actually). If you do it that way, do you then need throttle adaption?

does throttle adaption using key on for 3 minutes thing work in ALL recent audis including RS6?

Default In my experience, the Vag reset does not do a complete reset...

as well as the disconnect battery does. Doing a Vag reset will not zero out the fuel ingition timing map while the battery disconnect will.. This is from personal experience.. after I had my A6 4.2 chipped which requires a disconnect of the ECU from the battery, upon replacement the engine would kick *** for the first few hours until it detected that it was using 91 octane and dialed back the timing accordingly.. When I had the tech as well as service manager from Audi do it with a Vag-Com, this parameter was not reset. Then, to confirm, I had it Vag-ed again.. still no reset.. then i disconnected the battery terminal for 15 seconds and replaced it.. The power was there again as before.. Conclusion? If you want to be assured of resetting all parameters ECU and TCU, disconnect the battery .. You may have to reset the radio code and one touch windows,.. c'est la Vie, no?

yeah, that's my experience too. I've not found a way for Vag to do a complete re-set.

Default Wouldn't you get the same effect if you leave the key in on position and open the driver's door for

more than a few minutes (3, I think) for the computer (not sure if tranny or ecu) to reset? I've done this with my 98 Passat V6 2.8, and it seems like the car is more responsive after that.

Default If you want to reset everything...

Connect to the engine ECU, then go to Adaptation, Channel 00. It will prompt you to reset all learned values in the ECU. The same works for the transmission ECU. You will also want to do a throttle body adaptation by going to Basic Settings, Channel 060. Yes, it will also initiate the TB adaptation if you leave the ignition on.

When you do the TB adaptation, it is good if the engine is up to temp.
