Default Transmission code 00032, new(?) trick.

I VAG'd the transmission with code 00032, which I thought would just allow for crisper shifting and the ability to hold first while in tip mode.
Just discovered this new (at least I never saw the topic posted before) feature today. While in S or D mode tap the up/downshift buttons on the steering wheel. Gear display will change from auto to tip and you can now change the gears at will via the buttons. System defaults back to S or D after about 8 seconds; transmission also returns to full auto mode. Handy feature on the freeway.

Default cool. you wouldn't happen to be in the LA area would you?

i've seen a red 2002 (or newer) 2.7T around on the streets lately...

a rarity indeed.

Isn't that a standard feature on 2002+? Not part of recode, AFAIK.

It never did it before the recode; I tried repeatedly.

That was my understanding as well... even read it in some literature somewhere.

My '02 4.2 does all that with factory TCM soft coding.

Perhaps you tried it at RPMs that prohibited the shift?

Default Confirmed that this works on an '02 S6

My factory soft coding was 01002 and I've never (frustratingly) had the Tip-override feature. I first tried 01032, which had no apparent effect. But 00032 gives me exactly what idemo! describes. Thanks for the tip! (pun intended)
