I work for an audi dealer and just got back from Michigan Speedway in Jackson MI.
While we were there, we drove the A6 2.7 6speed, A6 4.2, S4, and TT quattro. We also drove 540I,E430, GS300,M3. The Audi of choice for a lot of us was the 4.2. The car is an absolute screamer. It made the MBZ feel like an oldsmobile, and the 540 feels really soft and Lexus like in the suspension. The 2.7 posts similiar 0-60 time as the 4.2, but I think the 4.2 would flat leave a 2.7 on the freeway. (we didnt get to try the 2.7 with tip). The 4.2 as the way I understand it, is the only A6 to get the flared "widebody look" and the factory 17" wheels with dunlop p9000's with wild looking tread pattern. There's only two options for the 4.2. Cold & warm weather packages. The Audi factory guys were there, and all I kept hearing throughout the day was "Audi is goin to take it's rightfull place at the top, ahead of BMW and MBZ. These new cars will remove all doubt. |

Can't wait to drive the 4.2. Just as I thaught, this 4.2 has immense 50-70 and up acceleration capabilities. 0-60 times look good in print, but in the real world stop light drags will be the only place it'll matter. I gave up on these drags quite a few years ago anyway. Broad power from this V8 will be a gem on the freeway just as you evidenced. Please tell our Chicago area dealers to russle up a few so I can test one!

Not really... 1/10 of a second is the rough guess around here I think... sportier overall? That's what I thought about the 2.7... until I heard the 4.2 has some other major changes in the suspension and the 2.7 T only has adjustments...
