transmission filler gizmo
I made life a bit easier on my last transmission oil change with this little set-up. The hook hangs in the fill hole and the tubing is long enough that I can sit out from under and pump in the new juice. Works very well. Cost about $2.

An older thread but decent info. However, there are a couple of things the OP wrote that I would question, starting with the Torx bit required for the filter, T45? On the transmissions I've done, more like a T20.
Running through the gears: R-N-D are all you should have to do, forget 4-3-2. Unless you run it up to about 40 mph on the jack-stands, it won't get out of first anyway if you are just idling.

Maybe they've used different sizes, but my early '96 (S/N 000322) required, to the best of my memory, either a T20 or T25 for the filter, and T27 for pan screws as you mentioned.

A4 quattro refill
I realize it's an old post, hopefully you can still answer my question. I bought a rebuilt tranny on ebay and I followed you instructions on refill, I'm at 7 liters should I keep filling until I get overflow? Being that it's new I know it's going to take more than a flush. Just don't want to put too much. I tried going for a shot and slow test drive but it shifts form first to limp mode. If I turn the car off and restart It gets out of limp mode but as soon as I try to drive it does the same thing over. No check engine light though.
