Tail light retrofit mod with LED conversion to yellow LED turn signals
I have been piecing together the parts need to replace my tail light to the new face lift style. After sourcing the taillights on ebay and making the harnesses. I was ready to install the tail lights. I come to find out that the passenger tail light had a bad LED on the parking light, needless to say I was pissed. I figured I would take this as an opportunity to attempt to fix the bad LED on the taillight and swap out the turn signal LED's to the ROW spec yellow LED's.
Note: The turn signal appear red in the pictures, but in person the yellow does shine through the red lens.
I made the harnesses using OEM housings and making my own cable assemblies using OE connectors.
Harnesses:
Tail light end:
Chassis end:
I carefully removed the red lens by prying at one edge of the housing and slowly working my way around the entire enclosure. Once the lens is off you need to remove the screws holding the reflector in place. There are a few tabs holding the reflector assembly in place before you can get access to the LED board.
The LED's were replaced with OSRAM Power TOPLED's. 24 are required per side.

Looks great, nice work!
When I installed my 2014 LED tails onto my 2011 (currently installed) Kufatec claimed to have a harness for the job. Unfortunately it didn't work (car side connector was wrong). I ended up using the car side plug from the '11 tails and moved it over and re-arranged the wires (because, of course, the Kufatec harness was wrong in that regard as well).
Turned out great, but more work that I had anticipated. Well worth it though! Love the '13+ tails.

Very cool! I've replaced both my S4 and A3 with Euro tails for the same reason and might consider doing this (or replacing entirely if I could get my hands on an oem set)...
