Default 2001 C5 A6 4.2 Refresh/build thread

Ok so I will try and update this thread as much as possible as I go along...this 01 4.2 A6 was finally acquired after turning down 3 other c5 4.2 cars. This car was picked up with 240,000 miles on it but has been well maintained and it's insides look great and transmission works perfect(either might have been changed in it's life for all I know...). So anyways, here's the car and everyone please feel free to comment or post suggestions or input thanks.

Default Took Some Measurements...

Ok so for any of you wondering, it looks like the belt driven 4.2 pistons come out of the hole .015 so there goes the idea of separating my stock head gaskets which are .060 and only running two layers of the steel .015 at .030 since you need at least .028 quench it looks like I'm going to have to run one .015 layer and the .030 layer making my head gaskets .045 thick instead of .060 which using compression calculator results in compression increase from 10.80 to 11.22... not much of an increase but it's better than nothing...was actually hoping for the 11.6 originally planning for but hey wth...WHAT DO YOU GUYS THINK???

Lol thanks for your input but why is this the worst idea ever?? No less safe then decking your head .015 except if my rod stretches which isn't going to happen...don't be a hater at least give a solid reason...sounds like the best idea to me 10.8 is a soft compression ratio leaves me unsatisfied...so don't just say sounds stupid because you're too scared to do it or don't have confidence in your own work...at least give a reason why I shouldn't!

I might add I'm not some noob kid out to race his moms old car lmao...I'm an engine builder/tuner and have two bikes I've done currently holding land speed records in El Mirage...one of them supercharged at 14psi

Basic reason is the compression ratio you obtain is only marginally greater and I doubt would yield significant power gains. The risk of decreased/inferior head/deck seal is IMHO greater than the marginal gains. If you were going to O-ring the head and use a thick copper gasket and supercharge the engine, different story. AT that point you'd want to go to ARP custom studs, etc. But with a stock 4.2 engine…..I'd leave well enough alone.
