Default 245/45R17 on 17x8 rims

Has anyone run these on an A6 4.2? Any problems?

Help/opinions appreciated...

Default I plan to. It will fit. ~2.8% circ over stock

And it has the great benfit of carrying more sidewall and significantly more load rating capacity, so those of us int he northeast might bend fewer rims.

I run 225/55-16 in the winter - even larger with no problem. In fact, I like it. (S6 avant)

Mine are 255/40/17 and I have a 2.8 2001 they dont ever rub, I get great stability on the freeway and the noise level is low (Conti-sport contact)
Overall im pretty happy with the performance and looks. So you should be OK with your set up, no worries mate.

Thanks for the input so far. The issue is that the 245/45R17 is actually 0.6" larger in diameter than the stock 255/40R17 on my 2000 A6 4.2, so I was wondering if anyone is running this setup without problems/rub.

Good to hear...do you know if the S6 Avant is comparable to the a 2000 A6 4.2 in terms of clearance for the wheels?

Default From your earlier post, I would guess that you don't have the sport suspension...

so you should be fine. I've seen posters here say they've used 255/40/18 wthout having rubbing issues. That's an even taller, wider tire than you're contemplating.

Koz.

Default I run 255/45's at times

On my 17 x 8's on a 4.2. They match the outer diameter of the 255/40 18's I run with RS6 OEM wheels and RS6 stock tire size. RS6 wheels get run in summers and the 17's get run with either all seasons or snows for winter. Both fill out the wheel wells more than the regular 4.2 size--a beefier look overall, and a little more sidewall to absorb winter road problems. It's only a few percent off in the running diameter, and actually gets the speedo just about dead on (speedo's most commonly read a bit high). Performance still good either way; a bit heavier in the larger size; bit smoother ride of course, though handling is still quite good.

Default Well, I dont have both, but everything i hear says "yes"

In fact, I would have less clearance since the S6 is lowered. (sheetmetal only issue)
