Crankcase breather/valve/hose replacement extensiveness
I have a 2004 A4 which is currently at the dealership for timing belt repair (yikes !). I had them look at engine logged fault codes, since it had the check engine come on and off in the past month. They basically said it showed the P0107 (lean fuel code) and needs a crankcase breather hose and valve (if I remember correctly) to be replaced.
I am wondering if I can purchase the parts and replaced on my own. They gave me a quote of around $500 between parts and labor (50:50) !!! Does anyone have some pics for this ?
Thanks a lot !

I did my daughters A4 a couple of months ago. A little tight but not bad. You will have to order up.
all of the parts you need which will probably be the breather hose and the PCV valve which will invariable break (brittle with age) if you try to remove it from the hose. Take a good look at all of the hoses and be prepared to pull most of them even if good to clean the gunk out of the hoses. Clear the code and it should be fine when replaced. Just remember, most of the plastic connectors will break as they are brittle with age.
