A4 2007 2.0 T lack of power when accelerating
Hello,
I have a problem with my 2007 A4 2.0T, and i need help identifying if it is related to the gearbox, the turbo, or maybe something else.
A while back, after accelerating at any speed and suddenly releasing the gas, i could hear a soft rasping sound coming from the right side of the car. I took it to the shop and the mechanic said the computer showed no problem. I continued to drive the car like this, but a week ago the sound stopped, and another problem appeared: the car has lost power when accelerating.
It's doing 0 to 60 in 13 seconds, mostly because it takes about 1 second going from 0 to 2.5 rpm, but around four seconds from 2.5 rpm to 4.5 rpm. And if i'm going at 50 mph, and switch to sport gear, if i press the gas all the way the rpms hit the roof to 6.5 rpm but the car will not accelerate as fast as it should. Sometimes it will even skip like it's losing traction. This only happens when i step on the gas hard, if i'm driving slowly the car shifts gears at 2.5 rpm like it is supposed to.
I took it to the shop again and they say the computer shows no problem and it could be a mechanical problem with the gearbox.
Does anyone have any idea of what the problem could be?

This sounds very much like a gearbox fault. If the engine rpm is increasing and responding to the throttle pedal, then it is not engine\turbo related. The gearbox is slipping internally and not transmitting the drive to the wheels. I take it you have a multi-tronic (cvt) gearbox? The fault can be confirmed by draining a sample of the gearbox oil and checking for a burnt smell and excessive discolouration. Hope this helps.
