The A6 handles seem much better than the Acura handles. The Audi ones are definitely less finicky. The Acura ones had a nasty habit of shorting out and blowing fuses. I remember one case on the Acura forums of the handle melting. Never had any major issues with mine.

so If I apply some pressure, will that help in cases when it doesn't work?

I don't think so. What's interesting is they work even when I'm wearing medium weight leather gloves with no extra pressure.
I'm guessing Audi uses "Projected Capacitance" as described in this article:
