Why do our brake calipers have this block on them?

Default Why do our brake calipers have this block on them?
I've had Brembos in the past and never seen this block on monoblock calipers. What is the purpose of this thing?

I heard someone on the forum call them Brembos. Are they manufactured by Brembo or another company?

Harmonic balancer, or something to that effect. It's to keep your brakes quiet.

The calipers are made by Brembo.

^^ Yes it's to control noise. Audi has a TSB for the TT-RS for customers who complained about noisy brakes -- the solution was to replace the caliper with one that included a weight.
