They have several comparison points to the SQ5 & Q5. Very surprising to me is the suggestion of a $45K entry price. I would have guessed that a spec comparable to the SQ5 would be at least $10K more.

One of the replies on AW (can't agree more):

$45k for an underpowered VW 4-cylinder engine
$55k for an S version
$65k for a Turbo S
You're going to need to add $15k in options to upgrade cheap standard (speakers, radio, seats, wheels...)

So I'd say $70k the way the magazines are testing them (and gushing over them). Probably more like $80k if its the turbo with a few basic options, So keep that in mind when Porsche tosses out a number like $45k. LOL

It's funny how they make it sound like the Q5/SQ5 are now so bad that Porsche should have no hint of them in the Macan.

It reminds me of audiophile reviews. A reviewer says that some speakers or amplifier of whatever are sublime with just absolutely perfect sound. Later, the same reviewer writes about a newer product which completely buries the previously reviewed product that was so wonderful before. How can there be so much scope for improvement in such an awesome product? The typical answer is that the new product just "brings it to a whole new level". Evidently, there is an infinite number of these "whole new levels" which are significantly better than the previous levels. Incredible stuff.

I've been a Porsche driver since 1971 (still have that car) and Audi driver since 1980 and had a first generation Cayenne S and loved it. But by the time you add a few must haves, including PASM, you are up there in price.

I priced a Cayenne diesel and it was nearly 80K by the time I added what I wanted. Thought about the Macan, but wasn't going to wait until it had been out a while.

Just took delivery on a Q5 TDI s-line+ and love it so far. And significantly less than a Cayenne, though I know I'm comparing apples and oranges. Actually prefer the small size of the Q5 or upcoming Macan.

Will look at the Macan after it's been out a while, but for now I'm enjoying the torque and luxuries of the Q5- love the Google earth Nav system, and B&O stereo, and drive select with adaptive suspension ain't bad either!!

If you've spent any time building your own porsche via their website, you'll quickly understand that base price of a porsche and one with any reasonable set of options is a very wide gap.

I'd add 15-20k for normal options most people expect on luxury cars and you can probably go another 20k past that if you get frisky. Just adding 21" wheels in the cayenne is $6k compared to 800 bucks on the Audi.

The Macan is looking pretty good. Like the over all looks and the lowered stance... however, the rear sweeping cargo area really loses a lot of utility and honestly doesn't look as good as the Cayenne.

Funny how they took a base Q5 and put it next to (what looks like) a higher trim Macan. Should have used SQ5.

Can't say that I care for the thick black strip along the bottom of the Macan. The Q5 looks better in my opinion. Instead of looking like an SUV, to me the Macan looks like an oversized sports car. It looks awkward.

Exactly. In fact if you look at the shot of the rear seat, it looks like no daylight makes it in from the rear.

It's too bad they didn't use a similar paint colour that would show off the body lines equally. From some some angles I prefer the Macan but more for the Q5. The black rocker stripe on the Macan has to go though.
