I just noticed something odd...the motor in the RS4 uses 4 valves/cylinder, not 5.

assuming the UK website is correct, the tech specs for the RS4 motor show "4-valve technology"...am I alone in seeing this for the first time? Or is it just a typo?

No room with the FSI for 5 valves. R8 has been 4-valve since day-one as well.

All FSI engines now, 4, 6, or 8 cylinders, have 4 valves!

Default FSI=4 Valves

There has been much speculation as far as maximum attainable power output, but many high high hp engines use 4 vavles per cylinder, not 5. See: just about any other engine besides the 2.7T or 1.8T.

I'm sure the 2.0T will make higher hp in the future, hell it's making 260-270hp with just a chip/exhaust. I'm pretty sure audi is phasing 5v technology out completely and reverting back to 4.

Default this is just bizarre...all along i thought the RS4 motor was just....

...a beefed up S4 motor with FSI. I'm not sure how I feel about this.

Why, it's not like you could retrofit FSI to out engine anyway

Default Re: Why, not...

It just needs different heads, new fuel pump and ecu. I would like to try it but at 3k PER head (loaded) the price was a LITTLE much.
