The dealer wont do something that for you.....
Well unless you own the dealership, or best friends with the owner. Deactivating the seat belt gong entails some federal laws etc and if someone doesnt wear their belt(not saying you would) they could be held liable. Best off doing it with vag-com and not telling anyone about it. Depending on where you are you might be able to find someone in your area who has it, search for vag locator, and you should be able to find someone near you.

Charlotte
Sweet ride eric. I noticed the Charlotte dealer plate frame - we are considering a move from the DC area to Charlotte. Do you like living the Charlotte area? Wife is concerned that it's too small. She is a DC native and enjoys a vibrant downtown.

Wanna trade a set of 996 guards red bumperplugs for a D3 oil filter?
if you don't do oil changes on your own, the filter is useless. then again, i run front plates (NJ law) so the bumperplugs aren't necessary either. Hmmm... maybe we should just do it so we can both have something new laying around in the garage
BTW, nice combo on the cars! Love the white!

Re: Eric, what is involved with back up camera? Price?
According to my installer, who has done a few of these in Audi A8's already, it's a fairly straightforward module that intersects one of the inputs on the screen, and a negative ground circuit ties in the reverse gear. So once you place the car in Reverse, the screen shows the view from behind, full color.
Camera is tiny, mounted below the lip of the trunk. I think most of the electronics end up in the trunk. Will check.
Probably going to run about $1200 or so, but I'll know more in about a week.

Re: Charlotte
Ripple....come on down! You would not believe how much our population increased in Charlotte over the past 15 years or so. I'm a native, so I've seen it all. But when IBM picked Charlotte 20 years ago, the growth began.
Many from metros in the northeast enjoy Charlotte's great climate (4 seasons, nothing brutal except July humidity), moderate cost of living, and terrific amenities.
Granted, we're not NYC, but there is now a Johnson & Wales main campus here...the benefit is tons of terrific restaurants rivaling most major metros. NBA has returned, though the team is injured and not playing well, and our champion NFL Panthers attract a lot of attention too.
World class sporting events, concerts, travel is easy from here to almost anywhere, taxes are not bad, only downside is our public schools are not terrific.
But the folks who have come here love it, and stay.
