April, are you able to find out what the sales ratio is for AudiUSA auto:manual?
I'm not trying to be sarcastic or anything. I'm legitimately curious. It's full well understood that on an enthusiast website we'd champion the manual transmission, but I'm curious what the true sales figures are and possibly to see the reason why Audi might make such a decision.

With the A3, it's 80% DSG, and 20% manual. With the C5 A6 manual was 6 or 7% of total sales
including the allroad.
Not sure about the A4 now, but with the B5 it was close to 50/50.

You have solved your problem with 2 cars. I often feel the same way about my S6.
Its extremely easy to vaporize long stretches of road efficiently and comfortably. But sometimes I miss the work-for-it, over-steering, fun of a "lesser" car. I think you have the right idea, Audi for 80% driving, and an Alpha to play racer boy/girl. I don't think there can be a perfect car for all occasions.
