Opinions on the 2000 A6 Quattro?
My '94 100CS has 196k miles on it. I think it's time to trade up since it needs a heater core and a timing belt within 4k miles.
Are there any major repair issues that I should be concerned about before purchasing this vehicle?
I appreciate any advice you can provide.
Thanks,
John

I have a 100cs as well and just bought a 4.2 L A6
I have a 2.8 as well but there is no question in my mind which one of these three I love the best the V8 is THE A6 to buy. You don't have to worry about turbo failure and it gives you great V8 torque and actually decent mileage. There is only about a 2mpg difference between my 2.8 and 4.2. Go drive one I guarantee it will put a smile on your face, and then you will go back and drive your 100cs and realize the huge difference.

One man's experiences (mine)...
The 2.8s are nice, if a little slow off the line. Since they had been in production for 2 years by MY2000, you wouldn't likely have as many problems as I've had with my 2.7T.
Still, though, the 4.2 (even the MY2000) is the killer car, IMO...<ul><li><a href="https://forums.audiworld.com/a6/msgs/455221.phtml">Worth reading.....</a></li></ul>

get an extended warranty for sure
mine has under 40K miles, and I've had about $2000 in miscellaneous small repairs under my extended warranty in just the past year alone. even minor things are expensive and add up quickly.
