I order mine yesterday evening as well. I wonder how often the cache is purged?

The navigation maps are loaded on the harddisk in the car, the only thing downloaded from Google Earth (NOT Google MAPS) is terrain data. You don't need any online connection to use the nav system as all data and POI's are already in the car.

Ummmh.... yes. The MAPs I am referring to are the satellite images that are cached and are what make the new MMI so cool. These need to be downloaded as one moves into unfamiliar areas and why one would want to pay a dollar or two when out of town to get all the details and to do searches. With street view coming, this is yet another reason to pay as you want to go.

Hmmm, I already have a T-mobile data plan for my Samsung Tab. I wonder if I could use the sim card from it?

Agree - While I'd like to have it all of the time, I just use it when I need it now - I don't need it for 80% of my driving... my commute. But I used it in downtown Atlanta the other day and on a drive to Tennessee. I just don't see it being worth $30 / month. Especially with this option, which has cost me something like $8 in the 2 months I've had it running.

1) No, unless you remove the SIM from the iphone, put it in an adapter and install it. At which point you'd only get 2G service

2) Yes, as long as it's not a microsim from an iPhone, and you still will only get 2G service.
