Frigging Gas Station Planters

Frigging Gas Station Planters
Well ain't this a fine day in the neighborhood.
I'm getting gas. Car is in front of me getting gas. A car pulls sorta close behind me waiting for my spot. I backup a bit and cut wheel to get enough manuevering room to pull out away from pump - not really paying attention to what I was doing. BAM SLAM SCRAP!!
Backed into this stupid planter that looks like its been hit 1 million other times. It hits my backpmer, put scraps into and a;so the back quater panel is not dented and scrapped all to hell. Both need to be repainted now.
I call gas station, of coarse they say not their fault the planter wasn't moving, I was.
I can't make a claim, just got new insurance company, don't wanna get dropped.
I cant find how to push the dent out of the back. It's just barely pushed in, I know if i could get to it through the trunk I could poush it back into place. Maybe it can be pulled out - I think. I saw some dent magic kit on a late nite infomercial. The bare sheet metal is what bothers me. I got a feeling this is gonna cost some serious cash to fix professionally.
Moral of the story... never ever backup and cut wheel with out looking to see whats behind you.

Sorry to hear
From your description it sounds like you could take your car to a paintless dent repair and have the dent pulled for cheap. Unfortunately, once you start talking about painting, it's gonna cost you more $$ at a body shop.

Something similar happened to me the other day....
Someone lost control of their car and turned into mine. His wheel hit my rear quarter panel and caused some similar damage to yours. It cost me about $700 to repair. Good luck!

Re: Sorry to hear about that, but why would ...
Just whishfull thinking, as the damn planters should be closer to the pump, not 5 feet back.
I hoped maybe they've had this happen in the past and as a gesture of good will, their insurance would cover it. The planter has about zillion scraps on it also!
Notice I did not say I accosted them about the damage, but rather just asked if they wanted to accept any liability.
Just a second of inattentiveness can really screw your day up though!
