In the UK you needed to have either one of the phone preperation options and/or sat nav (either CD or DVD) to get the shark fin.

Your satnav antennae is most likely located under the package shelf near the base of the rear window.

what year is your car?
part #s vary audi made a few variations/upgrades
4F5 035 503 E ...4F5-035-504-H-GRU ..many others
search my name + antenna for valuable info

2005 and some 2006 body was longer + 4 wires
2007-2011 smaller in size + 3 wires (*3 wire versions more reliable and should work on 4 wire cars but need to plug up 2nd small hole)

there are other audi car antennas out there but so u know they likely have shorter wires a6s are longer

what color? i have a gray smaller updated version cheap

I have an 06 so i have the longer model. I recently came across a used one from an 04 A8 on ebay that looks the same so I'm hoping it will work. Did you ever have any succes with that retrofit?

i just checked ebay pics
looks like it will mount properly on roof
plugs are a match
not sure about length of wires seem short
c6 ones are longer then arm length
the older ones plastic covers were thin n have 8 tiny screws
small screws + thin plastic = known to separate from base and moisture would seep in
the smaller ones more compact thicker plastic ..not designed to open
some audi models tt have short wires dont fit
some sudi models have a screw to secure down to roof.. wont fit
a6 a8 ones just pop/pivot in
important is length of wires
the c6 connects to the c pillars so are longer then A4s not sure about A8s
i hear that 4 wires and 3 wires doesnt matter.. one opening stays w out plug
never did the retrofit yes my antenna had moisture damage but my XM sat unit in trunk was the main culprit for reception issues and swapping in a Sirius unit resolved my issue
then traded the car in
anyway if the a8 doesnt work out i was looking at half the cost of the ones you are looking at
