MOT Failure - need help
Hi Guys,
My beloved 1996 2.0 cab has failed the MOT on a few things and I'm trying to work out if these are jobs I can do to keep the costs down.
The main issues are :
Rear bushes on front subframe (both sides)
Nearside front suspension arm rubber bush
All need replacing - can anyone point me in the direction of directions that can walk me through replacing - I don't want to scrap her as she still has plenty of life yet.
Thanks

Is this a U.K. Cabriolet? I travel to London frequently and see Cab's with the 1.8T and models newer than the '94 through'98 that we have in the US, but still have the same body. A 2.0 engine is a first for me though.

You may be right that it wasn't a turbo. 1.8 for sure as I remember it was badged with the 1.8 but I can't be positive now if it had the "T". I'll keep my eyes out for them in the UK and Germany, where I also travel.

Check the tech section for instructions on control arm bushings. I recall a couple of writeups there.
Subframe bushings as control arm bushing need to be pressed out. Easiest when the subframe is out of the vehicle, but not a!ways doable. Easier to press out than the control arms just based on what you have to work with.
One of the write ups involved burning them out. Obviously out of the vehicle! I have receivers and rams I made to fit and use a press.
