Thinking of buying an A4
So I'm thinking of buying my first audi. We'll first German car in general. It's a 2003 a4 1.8t and I would like to knows of things to look out for as far as engine and trans. I keep hearing about the cvt trans and the big problem it has. Anything else would be of great help. Thanks in advance
P.S.- I know im guna some flak about using the search button soles try to keep it to a minimum and just reply if you wish to help :-)

As I say in all cases. If you find a well maintained on, you can probably easily get 250K miles out of it without a huge amount or repairs. If you get one that has not been well maintained or even driven hard, then buyer beware, especially in the area of oil changes on the 1.8t. Having said that, there are 2 other things other than CVT that I would look at: 1) timing belt status (if unknown, replace right after you buy it),2) upper control arms, and 3) heater. Everything else that is a weak spot on the B6 you really can't inspect to determine the status of...like the coolant flange.
