Default Sound quality of phone system

Hi all, just took delivery of my new 2014 Q5 pp with nav and am disappointed with my outgoing voice quality. I have called several people and all have commented that there is a lot of background noise, some static and tunnel quality when I talk. I have read some of the other posts on this subject and have noted some issues with the microphone. I would hate to think that Audi knew of a problem and did nothing to apply a fix to current new car deliveries.
Any one have any suggestions or comments?

Default Check phone.

My very late 2013 sounds great. The phone is also new.

Make sure you test your phone with a different vehicle to eliminate possibility it's really not a problem with your phone electronics; alternately test your Audi with a separate phone. By elimination with either or both methods, the results will be pointing you at the phone or at the vehicle as the issue. My own experience is it is typically the phone, particularly if it has been used (and dropped and sat on and...) for a while.

I have heard this as well from my friends/family. iPhone 5s, 2104 SQ5.

I just took delivery of a new 2014 SQ5 last week. I asked my wife how the phone quality is, both when she calls me and when I call her. She said it sounds fine. She could tell know difference between the Audi and my other vehicles (2010 Honda Ridgeline, 2011 Lexus IS250, and a 2013 Acura MDX).

I just bought a 2014 Q5 2.0T and I have had friends tell me they were surprised I was talking to them via my car / bluetooth because they could not really hear any background/road noise. They have said it only sounded like they were on speaker phone. Un-syncing and re-syncing may be something to try. I am using an iPhone 4S.

OP: If you've determined it to be the vehicle (and not the phone), you might have a problem with the car's mic. There were earlier reports in other models of defective mics or improper mic installations done at the factory. Your service dept. should be able to isolate the issue.

I have had very good feedback on the sound quality of my phone in my 2012. The only exception is if the windows or roof panel are open. They you get a lot of background noise. Best to keep them closed if you are on the phone.

I'm going to mention this next time I'm in to the dealer. I only get comments from folks on the other end when running at highway speed. When in town or stopped sound quality is great. On the highway I'm told I'm impossible to understand. (iPhone 5)
