Default Intake valve opens after TDC 10

Please help,

finally after basically rebuilding the cylinder heads with 12 new intake valves I installed the cylinder heads, replaced the timing belt by carefully making sure all the camshafts are aligning at TDC including the crankshaft as well of course.

The manual I am reading talks about "Intake valve opens after TDC 10”, but doesn’t indicate at which cylinder the intake valve opens 10 degree after TDC mark at the crankshaft.

When I checked it was cylinder number 8. Is this correct?

Would somebody who is knowledgable enough please help me figure this out?

Thank you.

Well, I think I figured this out. If TDC is when cylinder 1 is at compression stage top dead center than 360 +10 degree after TDC the intake valves of cylinder number 1 should begin opening and if this is the case then timing should be correct I hope.

You failed to mention which engine...some big differences between em, especially how timing is set.

If all cam and belt pulley timing marks are correct and at the correct TDC (2 TDC's per cam revs), the precise intake cam timing should be irrelevant...a built-in (preset) relationship between the timing marks and the exact cam lobe position (for best performance and smoothness).

Oh I am sorry, it is the 1999 Audi A8 4.2 liter, 32 valves engine, engine code: ABZ.
