Default Textar brakes

. Anyone had any experience with Textar brand brakes? I am looking at putting these on my 2016 S6. Currently at 50k and first time doing brakes. Dealer was WAY too expensive. to the tune of 3600, whereas a local shop said they could do for less than 2k and using textar ceramic. They said OEM would be way more expensive. For some reason i thought ceramic was more expensive.

It is ceramic compound pads, very common, not full ceramic brakes like on an R8, Ferrari, Lambo etc.
AFAIK Textar is an OEM for Audi...although I am sure they only have one specific p/n that is the "same" as OE pad compound and some other compounds could be inferior.

For reference DIY online parts prices
Front Brake pads and Rotors
Rotors 4H0 615 301 AL $615/pair
Pads PowerStop Z26 Carbon/Ceramic Z26-1575 $88
Shims 4H0 698 231 $247) Brake Shims bought from FCP Euro (free lifetime replacement). alternate search and find the Porsche equivalent p/n and buy individually or re-use old shims.

Rear Brake pads and Rotors
Rotors 4H0615601P $384/pair on sale - go with zimmerman and keep the price down even more
Pads PowerStop Z26-1547 $58
Total ~ $1200-$1400

Dealer will obviously charge MSRP + high labor rates so closer to...
Front
Rotors 4H0 615 301 AL $770/pair
OE pads $362
Shims 4H0 698 231 $305

Rear
Rotors 4H0615601P $564/pair
OE pads $154
Total = $2155

$1400 for labor seems a bit high but I don't know the labor rate in your area $180/hr ~ 8 hours...seems long
An hour per corner seems fair, but perhaps "book rate" is closer to 2hrs/corner.

Hey thanks for the detailed response. Makes me a little bit more comfortable with the indy shop. Will definitely go with them based on your info and the fact that it saves about 1600$!!!

Local shop did a great job at less than half the price of the dealer.

I installed textar brakes but semi metallic. As most people report they create dust , but i haven't had any squeal after 30k miles and when driving spiritedly they seem to frip well and not fade
