I used to live in Baltimore now I am in Sunny Savannah and I don't miss the snow one bit. I was up in Chicago with the A6 two weeks ago and I got enough snow and 'quattro'ng' to last me for the rest of the season.

The guy who had to literally dig out his Q5: all i can say is wow!!

I'm new to Audi with my SQ5 but have had cars with 4Motion Haldex, Subaru 50:50 AWD, and BMW xDrive. I always put snow tires on in the winter and have used Yokohama W.Drive (garbage), Pirelli Sottozero II, Michelin X-Ice3, and Michelin PA4 (best performance snow tire ever). Now I have my SQ5 and due to size requirements and limited tire stock, I went with Pirelli Scorpion Winter 255/45/19 though my first choice was Dunlop WS 3D.

Today was my first day up skiing for the season and the roads were snow covered from 150 ft elevation to 4100 ft. Given my experience with other AWD systems, I was very impressed with the Torsen 40/60 Quattro. I absolutely love how this fat monster rotates with a little gas. I could definitely feel the 4400lb weight more in the snow than in the dry though. Overall I had zero issues, passed most people, and it was a great drive in the snow!

Tell me about your wheels! Are those Hartmann reps? If so, which style, model # etc.

Heading to Vermont for a snowboard trip at the end of the march. Fingers crossed snow will still be on the ground off the mountain too and I'll be able to get some beautiful shots!

Thank you, sir!

I've got the 21" option and if tire companies don't start making more all- season tire options in 21" sizes I'm going to have to go the second set route. I'm in North Texas so snow is not a huge worry, but we do occasionally get some snow and ice. More concerning to me is the frequent wintertime cold temps combined with wet roads. Summer tires are just not a good choice in these conditions.

BTW, I think your setup looks great!

I shouldve taken pics when my TDI was stuck in a ditch..

Forgot to turn off Trac control so it took me a while to dig it out. After spending 20 min digging with 3 of my friends, I realized I can turn off my Trac Control, i gunned it and my car got out..
