Default Urgent help needed - radiator fan stuck on

Arg, the damn radiator fan won't shut off If I leave it like this all night the battery is going to be flat in the morning.

I've been in the fuse box and tried pulling what the manual claims is the fuse for the radiator fan sensor (F8) but this does nothing. It claims that F54 is the radiator fan output stage but this position is empty, err wtf!?

Can anyone help here?

That's what I've had to do unfortunately. Getting the car locked with the battery disconnected is an interesting procedure!

Default It will shut off once the engine has cooled down enough to prevent tension stress.

You must have driven it hard and then not slow down long enough for it to cool down enough. I had that happen one day, and it was blowing for what seemed like at least an hour. It must be a small fan which doesn't draw too much energy, and I'm sure the battery is protected from getting drained, to preserve power for the next start.

Forcing a shut-off of the fan may result in heat tension cracks or gasket leaks.

Default I'd have to side with Nuvolari on this one. The service manual does state...

that the fan could automatically come on even when that car is off on a hot summer's day. If it is on, its on for a reason. Prematurly shutting it off may possible cause heat damage. If it is still running for an hour and the engine is warm to the touch then I would say OK go ahead and cut the BATT. By then it should be cool enough.

Default So what was the final answer?

Did you ever figure out why it keep running. I took mine into the dealer yesterday for the same issue. It was running for over and hour after a short spirited drive. It may have been the heating issue. After and hour,I took it around the block, the temp gauge was all the way to the bottom of the cold. Engine was definately cool to touch, yet it would not shut off. Techs at dealer never heard of this problem. I'll post after they look at it on Monday 2/6 if they can determine why it happended.
