Just spoke to Hartmann re SQ5 winter rims. They thought 7" width would be way too narrow. They are tentatively recommending 19x8.5 with either a 38 or 25 offset, depending on how far out you want the tires to project. But they still have not verified with actual measurements for an SQ5 and will let me know once they do. I will probably go with RS4 style rims in 19x8.5 with 38 offset (#9 on their web page for Audi fitments). Given that I am in the Rocky Mts. I do not want the wheels kicking out a lot of junk at my fenders, as they might in this environment with the 25 offset. Will let you know when I get final numbers.

Ironic that they are second guessing wheel size fitment vs. Audi. If 7" fit, then that is a win win. Narrower is better for traction and narrower is cheaper for rubber prices. Until I hear definitively that 7" that Audi rec's won't fit, I'm gonna plan on sourcing 19x7s for winter.

The 7" just doesn't make any sense to me. Isn't there a possibility that's an error on the Audi site? There are no other Q5s that take 7". Seems way too narrow, although you're right would be great if they worked. I am waiting for more confirmation from dealer, Hartmann before making a purchase. But if you buy them and they work, let us know!

Here's another thought: the 235/55/19 tires that are recommended on the Audi site for the 7x19 rims won't fit on a 7" wide rim. 235mm divided by 25.4= 9.25 inches, not 7 inches. There's no way you can fit that tire on a 7" rim. I think it's an error.

235mm divided by 25.4= 9.25 inches, not 7 inches
This means that there must be 9x19 LOL
255mm divided by 25,4 = 10,03 inches, not 8,5 inches
This means that there must be 10x20 LOL
Perhaps Audi engineers are not aware that know nothing
For your information I have wheels 235/55R19 on rims 19x8 ET39
We need to urgently inform the Audi they have a big mistake

I think what spijun is trying to say is:
Please take a look at the varying widths of the tire as illustrated in TireRack's TireTech:
http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tirete...e.jsp?techid=7
Then take a look at one of the 235/55R19 Tires and note the rim width suggested:

Blizzak DM-V1 P235/55R19
Rim Width Range: 6.5-8.5"
