Default Q7 battery replacement

I've had no starting problems with my 3-year old Q7 4.2, but after routine tests dealer says battery tested "bad" on amperage. His price to replace is $240 (hunh??) for a new battery plus $240 to install (have to R & R the driver's seat), for a total of $480. Seems nuts.
Dealer actually recommended I not replace the battery, rather wait till symptoms develop.
Anyone aware of a less costly alternative? -thanks

yes do the battery yourself. Go to Interstate and get a bettery for Q7. Model MTP-H8 $178.00 plus tax. 85 Months warranty. First 30 months free replacement. According to the Dealer, its a better battery than factory. I paid 1/2 hour labor to reprogram the car. I do have the intructions for rnr the battery if you needed. Its not that hard.
Have fun!

What exactly has to be reprogrammed? And could one take this opportunity to have extra things programmed in like having the windows roll down by the remote?

My 2007 Q7 4.2 has thrown some funky battery codes from time to time. The dealer said he doesn't know quite what to make of it, but doesn't think there is a problem.

Battery has to be coded in to work with the power management.

Perhaps, but it has done this ever since I've had the car.
