MMI control fix
I've had two instances of spills on the MMI buttons. The first time I was able to clean the circuit board and limp it back to life. Some led's worked, most didn't. The buttons and the dial worked so that was good enough. The second spill was the end of the board, cleaning it didn't work. Dealer wants about a $1000 to fix. The buttons and board are a complete unit from audi. I went online and found a couple sources from china that sells just the board, they have w nav or without. The first site is densoautoac.com. It cost about 150 shipped Dhl and came in 5 days. Board worked perfect. Another source is ecutool.com But they say their board will only work with the 2012 q7 and several years A6. Theirs is a little cheaper at $100 shipped. I asked them why only the 2012 they responded with it's the only year they were able crack the boards coding to duplicate. I didn't try the board from ecutool because I have a 2008. I would of saved a few dollars and ordered from them if I had the 2012.
Swapping out board is easy, takes 15 minutes and that includes getting it out of the car.
I was a little nervous ordering direct from china but experience was good. Great customer service for both sites. Fast shipping was a plus.
Hope this helps. I have two kids under 3 btw. Emmett
Just used the search button and found similar posts about what I just said. Oh well......
