Misfire in MN winter
2004 TT coupe 3.2 Quattro 106,000 miles AT
Starting last winter I experienced misfires on all 6 on warm start. I thought it was moisture in the gas. The car always ran ok after putting IsoHEET. NO PROBLEMS DURING SPRING, SUMMER, FALL. Started getting same problem now this winter. CEL came on after having problem the other day. Added HEET and it ran fine. Took it to local Audi dealer. They had it for three day and couldn't get fault codes or misfire problem to appear. Mid week they called and told me that I needed to replace the cam timing adjuster. It will cost $5k.
I don't have the fault code. I'm stopping there tomorrow to talk to the mechanic working on it.
I've not given permission to start any work.
Any thought on what's going on? If its the problem they indicate, why would I only experience in winter months?
Any other right answers out there?
