I'd love to add this to the AudiWorld tech section. Any objections?

To retrofit the EUROPEAN taillights, you either have to swipe two wires in the inner taillights (T2 <--> T3) or you can keep the wires as is, and
code them accordingly:

CHANNEL [195: 12 5 & 196: 44 37] and [203: 5 12 & 204: 37 44]

If I interpret your writing and spreadsheet correctly and correlate them, is the above correction I made valid? The values you stated are in Red and my corrections are in Blue. This I think brings it in line with what the spreadsheet says. Or am I completely off track here?

BTW - This is awesome! Gives us a deeper understanding of how CAN networks work!

Yes you are a bit off track hehe, if you want to follow the spreadsheet, you need to swap the wires in your inner lights T2 <--> T3 (they switched the wires for the upper and lower US vs EU) then you should use the BLUE, if you do not want to swap the wires, you need to use the codes in RED

LEFT 12 & RIGHT 44 ==> Turn Signal activation
LEFT 5 & RIGHT 37 ===> BRAKE ONLY

These codes can be used to any channels, you can have your rear fog light act as turn signal, and your reverse as brake if you want. You need to understand which pin is responsible for which light, then you can do whatever you want

Audi used the Turn signal CHANNEL for the side markers, on the US version.
Is it possible to install EU tails and make them exactly like in the video without changing wiring?

Thanks kdagher!

I tried tackling it a couple months ago on my 2013 A4 and found the Outer lights (EU Signal/Brake lights) are coded as 1 channel in the US. You are right, it's mostly due to the fact we have side market light using the extra channel. Is there anyway we can separate them so the light matches the EU ones?

Default A Little Help....

I tried to read and understand this but I got 'lost' at the spreadsheet...so here is my question:

Do 'our' rear fog lights not work and is the only way to make them work to use a VAG-COM and re-wire some leads to the light fixtures?

Thanks!
