I have a 98 A4 Q with the 30v 2.8. I have been having trouble starting it for a little while now. It usually takes 2-3 times of cranking it before it will start, hot or cold. (If I shut it off and try to restart it within a few minutes, it starts just fine, though) I had the cam sensor replaced because the car had been tough to start, then wouldn't start at all. This past weekend, I replaced the fuel pump with one from a parts car that I have. It was working just fine when that car ran about 6 months ago. Could the hard starting just be from a clogged fuel filter? The car runs and drives just fine once it's going. And the CEL isn't on.
