Yes, have it federalized. I know of at least one federalized RS6 Avant in the U.S.

How much does federilization cost? I've heard $10k?

Default I know. But just as an idea of how much federalization costs, and the hassle involved
He wants $120k for that car. I think the moment it drops to $80k, it'll sell quickly.

I'm from England, I go home a lot. I can pick up a B5 RS4 there for around $45k. So I'm a little apprehensive about considering 2x the amount for the same car here....

Unless you are worth millions, the whole federalization process is not worth looking at.
