Default 2009 A6 Avant turbo wagon burns oil

My 2009 A6 Avant turbo wagon burns oil. I have to put in a quart of oil every 5K miles. Is this typical? I had a 2001 A6 2.8 that burned oil occasionally.

Does anyone else have this problem?

our 2006 Avant consumes none. The engine isn't known to be thirsty for oil.

sheesh you should be changing the oil every 5-6k miles with synthetic on a turbo engine. Doing the ol 10-15k oil changes, dont expect the turbos or the engine to last very long after 100k....those intervals are to make a maintenance schedule on a new car look good, they could give a damn if it lasts any longer than the warranty. Same goes with your "lifetime" transmission fluid.

But 1 quart in 5k miles is very very normal, and i wouldnt worry about it at all. Audi seems to think its perfectly acceptable to burn 1 quart every 1000 miles....

My 3.0L goes through a quart every 1500-1800 miles. 2nd quart tells me it's time to change the oil. Has always burned this amount. Am told it's unusual, but haven't been able to determine why.

Probably a failing crankcase vent valve, pretty easy to replace and fairly cheap. Could also be valve seals leaking, it seems to be common on Audi V6s
