Well the whine is "normal" I solved the problem by trading for an A6, well the A6 will be delivered in 10-12 weeks. I spent countless hours over the past few months to find the problem the nearest I can tell the noise is coming from the lines going to the power steering rack lower portion. The 2013 Q5 has electric steering ( thanks Audi). Good bye and good luck!

Not wheel bearings as the noise is audible in park.

My whine ended up being a self consuming rear differential at 7k miles.

I prefer red whine but sometimes I'll drink white.

Produced only in the 2012 2.0T vintage... limited quantities?... maybe, desirable?... not so much :-)
