This solution from Audi is a step in the right direction:

Needs some polish, but it's obvious from this APP that full functionality between phone and the MMI for music playback is very possible in the current gen.

Not sure about rSAP, but I did play with it briefly and was able to browse directories and play music files from my Galaxy Note 2 over the wireless connection to the MMI.

I have a 2011 Q5 with full nav, it had the iPod cable in the glove box but we don't own any functional iPods as we moved onto iPhones. I ended up buying the "AudiA2DP" adapter from http://www.audia2dp.com and it works well. I wish it was just a mini-USB/USB power output and a mini headphone plug rather than using the Belkin A2DP device it ships with, it does OK but it isn't the best bluetooth audio device out there.
If you order one and do some checking on the Belkin device there are some "hacks" online to make it better, such as getting rid of the stupid block of metal they put in it to make it feel heavy and seems to block the signal. That made the Belkin device useable, though I'd still prefer the option of using the adapter I use when traveling which was sold by BlackBerry, it is far better.
